Production System Configuration Design for an Unmanned Manufacturing Factory

In Unmanned Manufacturing Factory (UMF), we consider a workstation consisting of machine and several workbenches, each assigned an AGV to perform the parts transporting service. Every workpiece requires multiple processes at same workbench, time for transport part is greater than assemble it. This operating model complex, as workpieces corresponding workbenches are in service time. We extract production system into Semi-Open Queuing Networks (SOQNs) model. use four parameters describe states construct transition rate matrix. find that matrix has particular structure enables us solve it with Matrix Geometric Method (MGM). Following First-Come-First-Served (FCFS) policy, performance this unlimited queuing space evaluated terms intensity, queue length, sojourn time, throughput. The numerical experiments demonstrate significant reduction when number increases certain value. Our work can provide important suggestions designing UMF.
